Travelling soon?
With the Canadian dollar at or close to par with the US currency, a growing number of Canadians are planning trips in the US and around the world, and are in need of travel health insurance.
To answer this need, BCMA has arranged to make a travel insurance plan available exclusively to BCMA members. The travel plan is administered by Johnson Inc. and underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada. This annual plan offers BCMA members comprehensive emergency medical insurance coverage at competitive rates.
The travel plan provides up to $5 million per person insured per trip for emergency medical treatment including coverage for hospital, physician, air emergency transportation, and more. Availability of optimum, preferred, and standard health options and rates provide coverage for those with pre-existing conditions as well as for healthy members.
The travel plan also includes up to $8000 trip cancellation, interruption, and delay insurance and up to $1500 baggage and personal effects benefit per insured person (maximum $3000 per family) at no extra cost, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars.
What if a medical emergency should arise involving you or a family member, either before your date of departure or while you are away? What if you need to cancel your trip or return home early? Even if you drive to your destination, you may still have some expenses if your trip is interrupted.
If the illness of a traveling companion causes a trip interruption, the eligible cost of your early return would be covered. With trip cancellation, interruption, and delay coverage you will be able to recover the prepaid cost of any eligible unused travel arrangements—for example, airline tickets or hotel.
To learn more about the great features and benefits of the travel insurance plan, please contact Johnson Inc. at 1 866 606-3362 or visit www.johnson.ca/medoc_c to complete an application online.
