Editorial Independence

The BCMJ Editorial Board is a standing committee of the Doctors of BC Board of Directors. The BCMJ has editorial independence from the Doctors of BC Board so that it can be a vehicle for fair critique of the association and sharing of ideas that the association may not endorse. This independence rests on a relationship of mutual trust and respect between the two boards.

BCMJ committee members are chosen by the Editor, not by the association’s Governance Committee. Doctors of BC Board, President, other committees, CEO, and staff do not direct or attempt to direct content in the journal, other than in their designated columns (e.g., President’s Comment).
