The British Columbia Medical Journal (BCMJ) is a general medical journal that provides a unique perspective on medicine today, covering family medicine to specialty topics. Its peer-reviewed original research, review articles, and clinical case reports are of interest to clinicians, researchers, educators, and policymakers. Established in 1959, the BCMJ publishes both individual articles and article collections. Recent collections include an eight-article series on osteoarthritis focusing on the knee and a three-article series on autism.
One of only two general medical journals in Canada, the BCMJ also publishes essays, commentaries, clinical images, and lively editorials and letters. The BCMJ is published 10 times per year, with a steady stream of articles being released early online. It is a Diamond Open Access journal.
The BCMJ operates on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples including the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, whose relationship with the land continues today.
