Starting Thursday, 29 June 2023, people will be able to book an appointment to see a pharmacist through a new provincial online booking system at gov.bc.ca/seeapharmacist.
On 1 June 2023, pharmacists’ scope of practice was expanded to allow them to prescribe for 21 minor ailments and contraceptives.
Perinatal Services BC has collaborated with the BC Reproductive Mental Health Program and the Provincial Perinatal Substance Use Program to release Best Practice Guidelines for Mental Health Disorders in the Perinatal Period: Substance Use Disorders (updated 20 June 2023).
The guidelines cover education and prevention, screening and diagnosis, treatment and self-management, postpartum considerations, child welfare services, and recommendations.
Every year, over 800 residents and subspecialty fellows rotate through Vancouver General Hospital/UBC Hospital and GF Strong Centre. Although historically regarded as learners, residents and fellows provide an invaluable clinical service to the collective institution. Without their clinical contributions, the institution could not function in its current form.
