Thanks BCMA, MD Management
It has been 2 years since I was required to retire from medicine following a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm with significant sequellae. Although I am officially “permanently disabled,” I have much gratitude for my life and the quality of life I enjoy. Reflecting on all the events of the last 2 years, there are several thoughts that I wish to share with you.
I am extremely grateful to the BCMA PDI program and MD Management for their financial advice over the years, and for referring me to a disability insurance analyst.
This individual has been particularly helpful in guiding us through the maze of insurance legalese. The peace of mind for my wife and me during the initial applications for disability, the knowledge and experience that he shared with us concerning forms, reports, letters, etc. was priceless. I have several private disability policies in addition to the BCMA policy, and have recently been approved for CPP disability. The integration of these policies, along with the tax implications, is a complicated process. The disability insurance specialist was, in consultation with MD Management and my accountant, again readily available to efficiently advise us on these matters.
I wonder how many members of the BCMA are aware of the excellent support and service available, not only in filing a disability claim, but in evaluating the quality/quantity of disability insurance prior to the requirement for initiating a claim.
