The Cathy Isobe Scholarship was founded in memory of the BCMA’s longtime receptionist, who passed away from cancer in 2007. Cathy loved highland dance, and BCMA staff members honor her memory by fundraising throughout the year to award a scholarship for a student enrolled in highland dance who achieves academic excellence. The $1000 scholarship is administered by Ms Isobe’s family.
The BCMA Scholarship awards three $500 scholarships to children of BCMA members who display outstanding scholastic achievement, remarkable volunteer contributions, and well-rounded extracurricular interests. Winners are selected by BCMA committee members through an anonymous process.

It’s much quieter in here than the busy waiting room. You can’t even hear the cars rushing by, except for the occasional honk. I’ve been to the clinic before, but quite a while ago. This chair I am sitting on didn’t have that tear in the cushion last time, and there are some new posters on the wall. I really shouldn’t be worried, but this fluttering in my stomach just won’t go away.
It’ll just be like any other visit. I just want to make sure everything is okay.
Thank you for the interesting special feature in the June issue, “You must expect to suffer: Mme d’Arblay and surgery before the advent of anesthesia,” [BCMJ 2013;55:240-242] wonderfully written by Dr Morrant.
We would like to acknowledge the concern of Drs Eppler and Miller regarding statin use in older patients [BCMJ 2013;55:184, BCMJ 2013;55:273].
