The BCMA has two annual scholarship award programs, the first offering one $1000 scholarship and the second offering three $500 scholarships.
In the letter “Drug therapy decision course misleading” [BCMJ 2011;53:259-260], the author expresses concern with the content and messages he took from some of the presentations at our 22nd Annual Drug Therapy course that was held at the beginning of April this year. While thoughtful criticism and academic debate is very much welcome, we feel this letter unfortunately went much further than that in its overall tone.
In the July/August 2011 issue of the BCMJ we published a letter by Dr Adi Mudaliar entitled “Drug therapy decision course misleading.” In many instances in which a writer is critical of an institution or organization, we solicit a response from that organization. In this instance, we did not solicit a rebuttal from the Therapeutics Education Collaboration, and in retrospect, we should have. We apologize for this oversight. —ED.
Dr Nasir Jetha is a Vancouver pediatrician, award-winning teacher, and now President of the BCMA. But the road here has been anything but straight; living through two revolutions on four continents has only strengthened his resolve to help the less fortunate.
