PHSA wins HEABC excellence awards
The Provincial Health Services Authority has received five awards at the 2012 Excellence in BC Health Care Awards—three Gold Apple awards and two Awards of Merit. The awards recognize outstanding health care employees and reward innovation and best practices by BC’s publicly funded health care providers.
The winners are:
• Sarah Robertson, manager of multimedia and telehealth at the BC Cancer Agency, who won the Health Care Hero award (Gold Apple).
• Tracie Northway, project manager of the Escalation of Patient Care Project at BC Children’s Hospital/Sunny Hill, who won the Top Innovation award (Gold Apple).
• Dr Dan Martinusen, chair of the Pharmacy & Formulary Committee at the BC Provincial Renal Agency, who won the Collaborative Solutions award (Gold Apple) for innovative protocolization of anemia therapy in dialysis patients.
• Dr Connie Coniglio, provincial executive director of the Children and Women’s Mental Health and Substance Use programs, who won the Collaborative Solutions award (Award of Merit) for the provincial expansion of mindcheck.ca (BC Mental Health & Addiction Services).
• Richard Hall, ergonomic advisor at BC Cancer Agency/Children’s & Women’s Health Centre, and Dennis Schweers, biomedical engineer at BC Cancer Agency/Children’s & Women’s Health Centre, who won the Workplace Health Innovation award (Award of Merit) for their ergonomic syringe adapter for chemotherapy delivery.
Earlier this year the PHSA (BC Mental Health & Addictions Services and BC Children’s Hospital) won the BCMA Excellence in Health Promotion Award for their Provincial Child and Youth Healthy Living Initiative.
