Cabral new research chair in pediatric rheumatology
Dr David Cabral is the first holder of the Ross Petty–Arthritis Society Research Chair in Pediatric Rheumatology. In his role as chair, Dr Cabral will work with other scientists at BC Children’s Hospital and the Child and Family Research Institute as a bridge between research done in the lab and actual treatment, allowing for discoveries made in the lab to be used more quickly to improve the care of children with juvenile arthritis.
Dr Cabral is a pediatric rheumatologist, clinical professor, and head of the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at UBC. He has worked at characterizing the clinical features of rheumatic diseases of children and youth and has been involved in the development of national and international registries for patients with rare diseases.
The chair is a tribute to Dr Ross Petty, professor emeritus in UBC’s Department of Pediatrics, for his work in juvenile arthritis and his role in the field of pediatric rheumatology for well over 40 years.
