I want to commend Dr Wade on his well-written Premise article detailing the troubled, arguably unnecessary, process that is medical privileging in BC (“Privileging for new medical school graduates in BC,” [BCMJ 2017;59:123-124]).
Team-based care is a core attribute of the patient medical home model,[1] and a key foundational piece in building an integrated system of primary and community care. A comprehensive team-based care approach enables providers to work together more effectively to create a clear path to care and provide efficient services to vulnerable and high-needs patients.
President Trump insists that “Obamacare is a complete and total disaster [that] is imploding,” and that it needs to be repealed and replaced by an equitable health care plan with lower premiums and expanded coverage.
“In the current marathon medicare case… almost half the [8] months of expensive court time has been consumed on arguments about expert credentials, procedural wrangles, and government motions to block evidence.” Ian Mulgrew, Vancouver Sun, 17 March 2017.
Climate change is happening now. Since 1900 the average temperature in BC has increased by 1.4 °C per century.[1] In addition to rising average temperature, BC can expect more frequent extreme weather events, retreat of glaciers, and sea level rise.[2] Climate change will impact human health in BC through various pathways including air- and water-quality deterioration, wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, loss of food sources, and range extension of pathogens and disease vectors.[3-5]
