In 2005, 78 000 British Columbians reported injuries from motor vehicle collisions to ICBC. Most people look to their family physician to assess their injury and guide their recovery. Because of this, ICBC would like to positively influence its relationships with physicians who treat ICBC customers. Recently I agreed to work for ICBC as a medical community liaison. In this capacity, I will act as an information resource to physicians and ICBC staff and be an ICBC representative on the BCMA/ICBC Liaison Committee.
I was saddened to see that HMO used the podium of the BCMJ to berate the prime minister for not attending the AIDS conference. Such a political statement has no place in our journal.

I was surprised to see in the September issue of the BCMJ that there was not more in the way of concrete specifics about the causes of or solutions to medical errors (theme issue: How do we improve patient safety?).
Dr Roffmann was born in Germany on 6 April 1917. She earned her medical degree and began her internship on the front lines during the Second World War.
In 1952, Dr Roffmann and her sister (my mother) immigrated to Canada, settling in Vancouver and Surrey. While on holiday in 1960, Ruth met and fell in love with the head wrangler at a dude ranch. She would go on to marry Jake Reinertson in 1963 and move her practice to the small village of 100 Mile House.
