Post-publication Discussions

Corresponding authors may provide an email address for publication with their manuscript to allow readers to contact them directly. They are not obliged to provide an email address for public use.

The BCMJ has a well-used Letter to the Editor section and a Comments section at bcmj.org for reader discussion. On occasion, the Editorial Board will invite authors to reply to a letter. The reply is published at the same time as the letter. Letters must be received within 6 months of publication of a related article. Letters are edited for brevity, grammar, and BCMJ house style. Authors of letters are asked to declare any competing interests and to refrain from disrespectful and libellous comments. While the BCMJ Editorial Board has a bias toward publishing letters, including ones expressing ideas or opinions they disagree with, they may reject correspondence that is irrelevant, uninteresting, libellous, or lacking cogency.

More information on the Letters to the Editor department can be found at Submit a Letter.
