Coccidioidomycosis, also known as Valley Fever, is a fungal infection caused by the spores of Coccidiodes immitis and Coccidioides posadasii. Areas where Coccidiodes species are endemic include the American southwest, northern Mexico, and parts of Central and South America. About 50% of coccidioidomycosis cases in the United States occur in Arizona.
