Following the release of its 7 Steps to Stroke Recovery video in 2014, the Stroke Recovery Association of British Columbia is creating a series of videos to cover each step. The first video, Step #1: Exercise and Mobility, is available on YouTube now (https://youtu.be/BHfqFGj_tTw [8]).

The video emphasizes points to help stroke survivors exercise regularly and to make sure their post-hospital stroke recovery includes enough physical exercise. Physical exercise triggers changes in the brain that can make up for lost function after a stroke.

As stroke survivors move from hospital to home and adjust to life with a disability, they are at risk for depression, social isolation, as well as physical and cognitive decline. The Stroke Recovery Association of British Columbia helps survivors after discharge from hospital understand where to go for help in the community, find available resources, and access programs.
