A new video is available online to help physicians ensure that their offices are equipped with the right supplies to deal with a patient who requires urgent medical assistance, and that staff are well trained to cope with an emergency situation.
The video, created as a resident research project by Dr Simon Moore of Nanaimo, was designed as a resource to help train office staff in preparedness measures. Topics outlined include stocking the necessary emergency supplies and keeping tabs on inventory and expiry dates, and coordinating drills wherein emergency scenarios are acted out and medical office staff are evaluated on their response.
The video can be viewed at www.officeemergencies.ca [8]. Read more about the video project in Dr Moore's BCMJ blog post [9].
