The BCMA’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Allan Seckel, QC as its chief executive officer, following a national search. Mr Seckel will succeed Dr Mark Schonfeld, who is retiring after 16 years of service. 

From his recent role as head of the BC Public Service and, prior to 2009, as BC’s deputy attorney general, Mr Seckel brings to the BCMA his experience as an advocate, strategist, and policy advisor. As head of the BC Public Service, Mr Seckel was responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the Government of British Columbia, including advising the premier on all policy issues facing the cabinet.  

Mr Seckel got his start as a lawyer at Russell & DuMoulin and became partner/associate of the merged firm of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin prior to his departure to government in 2003. In addition to a commerce and economics degree, Mr Seckel holds a bachelor of laws from the University of Victoria and a master of laws from Cambridge University.
