The British Columbia College of Family Physicians has released a report card called The Role of the British Columbia Government in Health Care, which evaluates the provincial government’s performance in terms of its health care policies, and grades platforms of the larger parties on five indicators of importance to family medicine.
The five principal areas being assessed are the idea of a family doctor for every British Columbian, mental health and addiction, Indigenous health, rural and remote care, and support for the Patient’s Medical Home (http://patientsmedicalhome.ca [8]).
The report card uses a color-coding system to grade the parties’ actions and positions related to each of the five indicators. The report is available at http://bccfp.bc.ca/leading-health-advocacy/bc-report-card-2017/ [9].
