The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC used to represent doctors. We used to elect the board members. Now, the College answers only to the government, which appoints the board. This means that, in all other matters, we need to be cautious in any dealings with the College. It is now a branch of the provincial government and just as responsive as government. We are no longer a self-governing profession.
