I have to respond to this letter [BCMJ 2012;54:230 [9]] and note that I wholly agree with Dr Lajoie and wholly disagree with Dr Williams. In addition, I think the board action was a perversion of natural justice.
The responsibility of the Board is to represent all members, even those who submit opinions suggesting changes to the Board structure. This action of Board members was not a responsible action: it was an abrogation of responsibility. I hope the sponsoring members will bring forward their motion again as part of a wholesale reorganization of the BCMA and its Board to adequately address the many problems with the representative and governance structures of the current organization.
