Thank you for the good editorials, Roll on [BCMJ 2011;53:513 [10]] and Dr Google [BCMJ 2011;53:514 [11]] in the December 2011 issue.
The meat of all the articles was written by Dr Paul M. Gelpke: A snowy medical adventure [BCMJ 2011;53:565 [12]]. His essay was superb, and I almost missed it. Dr Gelpke gave credit to a superlative teacher, cardiac surgeon, and great guy: Dr Phil Ashmore. Dr Ashmore was one of my mentors years ago at VGH when I was a resident—I remember him fondly. Why does the BCMJ not feature more articles honoring him?
